Yom HaShoah Program

Tuesday, April 26, 2022 25 Nisan 5782

7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Pre-Reception begins at 7:00 pm
Program Begins at 7:45 pm featuring guest Speaker Joel Poremba, a BJI Member, who attended Israel Momentum trip with Rabbi Ciner will be speaking about his book, My Name is Staszek Surdel.

The memoir explores the story of survival, tragedy and hope against the backdrop of the resilience of a nine year old Polish Jew between 1939 and 1945. Alone and without help for most of the Holocaust, Nathan Poremba’s six- year survival required evading the Germans while maintaining an unflinching resolve to live despite the threats that enveloped his every move. His unmatched resilience is a testament to his will to live. Throughout, Nathan never acquiesced to antisemitism and he consistently resisted his tormentors as his father did before the Shoah.
