Network: How can I Help?
Family Support Fund
To quote the Chofetz
Chaim: For
the merit of charity, blessing enters man's house, as it is said (Deut. 15.10): "You
shall surely give him, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give unto him, because
for this thing Hashem your G-d will bless you in all your work."
The Chesed Network has endeavored since its inception to
provide relief to our fellow congregants whenever a need has been brought to our
attention. We are grateful to all those who have sent in donations over the years to
assist others. As our membership grows, so do the number of calls for help. Your donation
to the Beth Jacob Family Support fund will ease the way for congregants who have fallen on
adverse times.
Please make checks payable to Beth Jacob Chesed
Network's Family Support Fund.
Other Ways to Help
Our Rabbis taught: Deeds of
lovingkindness (g'milut chasadim) are superior to charity (tzedakah) in three respects:
Charity can be accomplished only with money; deeds of lovingkindness can be accomplished
through personal involvement as well as with money. Charity can be given only to the poor;
deeds of lovingkindness can be done for both rich and poor. Charity applies only to the
living; deeds of lovingkindness apply to both the living and the dead. [Sukkah 49b]
