"These are the precepts
that have no prescribed measure: the corner of a field [which must be left for the poor],
the first fruit offering, the pilgrimage [to the Temple Mount], acts
of kindness, and Torah study." (Mishna, Peah 1:1)
What is the Chesed Group?
The Chesed Group is made up of a number of Beth Jacob
Congregants who have come together to provide Chesed (acts of kindness) for fellow
congregants. They have cooked, shlepped, visited, shared their homes and provided many
other wonderful acts of Chesed.
The Chesed Group provides assistance and support to those
who need it. A need can arise from anywhere, not necessary from those of little means - a
person who is unable to get to the store to do his/her shopping, a family requiring meals
while spending time visiting relatives in the hospital, visitors to Orange County
requiring hospitality for Shabbat.
The Chesed Group is currently looking for volunteers
willing to help ease someone's burdens. Please read the next section on Services/Support
to see how you can help.
